Design Thinking StudioChat Guest Presenter, Tim Anness

ART AND DESIGN EXPLORATION THRU CORPORATE ADVOCACY

Design thinking is an essential skill that defines success. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) has created a design thinking workshop that explores how design and art-related careers come to life within its product design studios.

Essential Question: How might we close the gap between the art education classroom and design-related careers?

During Tim's StudioChat, we learned how to assist "Ralph," the giraffe, as he visits his creative friends. We explored the design thinking that goes into the creation of a new concept vehicle.

FCA seeks to advocate for the creative process, inspire students, assure parents, and support art educators. Tim can vividly remember his art teacher's names and encouragement that led to his successful career in a creative field.

Tim Anness is the Director of Jeep FWD Exterior and Design Outreach at Fiat Chrysler Automobiles. With a BS in Industrial Design from the University of Cincinnati, Tim is passionate about integrating design thinking into the classroom. For thirty years, he has worked as a designer and design director for many of the products you may drive today. STEM-based learning has left a critical "A" out. Tim looks forward to when everyone remembers their Art teacher's name and sees FCA efforts as a step towards that goal.
